Lesbian Paradise changes hands
BY SUE O'CONNELL | JUNE 20, 2012

Grace Newman has announced that she is selling The Highlands Inn, the New Hampshire guest house serving the lesbian community to Jenny Wackerle and Gia Koumantzelis.

“Jenny and Gia have been frequent guests of the Inn for the past 19 years,” Newman said in an email. “They share my commitment to the lesbian community and to maintaining the Highlands' comfortable, welcoming environment.”

Wackerle and Koumantzelis said in a statement,  "Our goal is to maintain the spirit of The Highlands Inn, and to continue the wonderful work Grace has done over the past 29 years. We feel so fortunate and honored to be accompanying The Highlands Inn into her next chapter."

The formal transfer of ownership will take place on July 18. Newman will be involved in the transition, as will longtime employees Jackie and Sheena.

Newman reports that she “has been so moved by all the good wishes I've received since announcing the forthcoming sale! It's very gratifying to know that The Highlands Inn has been a touchstone in the lives of so many women.”

The Highlands Inn is located in Bethlehem, New Hampshire.
