Nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for LGBTQ students applauds action by President and Congress.
Point Foundation thanks President Obama and Congress for reaching an agreement on legislation to keep interest rates on federally subsidized Stafford loans for college students from doubling on July 1.
Jorge Valencia, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Point Foundation, issued the following statement today:
“Preventing interest rates on federal Stafford loans from doubling is an essential tool for keeping higher education accessible and affordable. Thankfully, President Obama and Congress have taken the necessary action to help the more than nine million students who rely on these loans to attend colleges and universities. The experience of Point Foundation is that the great majority of college students are eager to use their higher education degrees to give back to their communities. Keeping federally subsidized student loans affordable is an investment in society’s most promising human capital.”
Point Foundation (Point) empowers promising LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential—despite the obstacles often put before them – to make a significant impact on society.
