Today, Maine's highest court ruled that denying a transgender girl the use of the girls' restroom at her school violated her rights under the state's Human Rights Act.
This is a huge victory for transgender young people!
The decision on behalf of GLAD's client Nicole Maines marks the first time a state court has ruled that transgender students must be allowed to use the bathrooms that match who they are.
We have been working with Nicole and her remarkable family for years, and are thrilled that their long battle has ended in victory.
Join us in thanking Nicole for standing up against her school's discrimination. And celebrate this victory with a gift to continue GLAD's work to ensure all transgender students can thrive in school and beyond.
